A 4-Banger for the 5

That's right, a 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine will grace the 528i in this upcoming model year in our Miami BMW showroom. Now, before you start waving your pitchforks and hollering "sacrilege", hear us out. The 2012 528i BMW is faster than the current generation. A full .4 seconds faster in 0-62. Not only that, but it is more efficient, meaning you get more for your expense at the pumps, too.

Economy and emission gains are the main objective for this change. Some of the improvements come from the smaller engine, and the rest come from a new stop-start system integrated into the standard eight-speed auto transmission. Additionally, a single twin-scroll turbocharger (oxymoron, anyone?) functions in collaboration with a number of other BMW technologies, bringing us the most efficient gas-powered 5 Series, yet.

What can you expect as far as performance? The 2012 BMW 528i delivers 240 HP and a remarkable 258 lb-ft of torque, providing a midrange performance so few 6-cylinder engines can deliver. Despite being 4 cylinders, this engine has some muscle, delivering power on demand and confidently moving you forward.

The 5 Series has always been full of personality, and Miami will see yet another facet of that personality emerge in model year 2012.
