Carbon fiber: The future of design?

It's hard to see a downside to the idea. Not only would it make our BMWs more efficient, the production of it has a significant advantage in the area of "green" production. Carbon fiber is said to emit far fewer emissions than the equivalent production of steel or any other metal, for that matter.

Leading the way is not an easy task, but we applaud BMW for doing so. We truly feel that the immediate future for automobile design is the world of carbon fiber. Without addressing the larger implications, we think it seems to be a great idea. What do you think? Does the integration of carbon fiber have a role to play in the next generation of motoring, or is it merely a flash in the pan, an idea that will be short-lived?
