This year's BMW 7-Series, as expected, once again maintains itself as the absolute top choice in class. Regardless of whether you grade it in terms of luxury, performance or prestige, the 7-Series has plenty of it all. As the flagship model of the German carmaker, it remains the standard within its class to which all others compare themselves to and strive to duplicate.
On the inside, you'll find a roomy cabin interior with firm, finely-lined seating for 5. No matter where you sit, you'll truly feel like you are experiencing first-class travel. The 2008 BMW 7-Series comes with the now-familiar i-Drive with its optimized redesign- now easier and more intuitive to use than ever, allowing the driver and front passenger to control just about all functions of the vehicle including navigation, climate, audio, Bluetooth and other BMW systems. The list of available interior technology continues with keyless entry, door brakes, on-board computer, rear sunshades, auto-closing doors, and a 13-speaker sound system.
Under the hood, the technology continues with an impressive 4.8 liter V8 engine that can generate 360 horsepower for the 750 trims, and a V12 for the 760 that can deliver 438 horsepower. The B7 gets a modified, supercharged V8 that produces an amazing 500 horsepower and 518 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to go 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. All of the models use a six speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
All of this power comes with copious amounts of safety and protection including 1st and 2nd row inflatable Head Protection System, active knee protection, side impact airbags and the more standard front airbags. Adaptive brake lights, antilock brakes, Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control, Active Roll stabilization and many other features round out the immense list of safety systems.
Since its debut in 1978, the BMW 7-Series has always worn the crown as king of the Super Luxury class. Spacious luxury, unmatched technology, and sheer performance and power define it as the pinnacle of German automobile achievement.
